Frequently Asked Questions
I've just rebuilt my antique transmission using one of your kits, and I would like to know what type of transmission fluid I can use?

We suggest you check with the vehicle manufacturer or owners manual for the correct fluid type, however most people use Dexron III / Mercon fluid without any problems. If you are working on a Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln and the transmission has the original bronze type friction plates, then Type F should be used.
I have a cast iron case Ford transmission. How do I know what unit I'm working on?

See the Ford ID page for details on how to identify a Cast Iron Ford transmission.
Can you tell me what the band adjustments are on my antique transmission?

Do you have an exploded view of my transmission that I can use to pick out the parts that I need to order?
